EU Road Trip - Firenze (Florence)

Firenze!!!! I definitely underestimated this place. It is simply amazing and beautiful. Completely taken back by this city. It is the birthplace of the Renaissance and possibly the most beautifully preserved and artistically rich city in the world.

View from our room. We were outside of the city, still beautiful!

Entering the city.

Found this interesting piece of vandalism on the wall. Of course, Andrew found it!

Had to get our "American Food" fix so we dined at the Hard Rock.

Kids wanted to take pics for their Papa.

Leilah...photo bomb. Serious conversation going on back there!

Thinking of Uncle Steve!!!

After dinner, we had some time before our shuttle pick up so we decided to get lost. Striking buildings and ancient churches proudly displayed for all to enjoy. With the historical part of the city largely contained in a small area, many of the places to visit can be reached easily on foot.

Look at what I found???? This is the first Gucci store ever. Lucky for Andy, it was closed. I'll be back!!!! (AFTER TAX SEASON)

and this is when our jaws dropped. I mention striking earlier....pictures do not give this justiceThe Florence Baptistery or Battistero di San Giovanni (left)

The Basilica di Santa Croce

Piazza della Signoria is an L-shaped square in front of the Palazzo Vecchio

so bummed that I didn't take that many pictures. We put the cameras down and just took it in. Simply amazing!!!

Time to call it a night! Ciao Firenze...we WILL be back!

Funny pic...the kids thought is was a little weird to sleep with big lips hanging over them at night. Va bene!

NEXT STOP VICENZA & VENICE!
